Coaching Experience:
Leon Othen, our Goalkeeping Director, brings two decades worth of experience coaching the position. Leon is in charge of the development of over 30 goalkeepers throughout the club.
His experience has included coaching for the Arsenal Football Club's Academy in England, serving as the goalkeeping director and head of specialist camps for MLS Camps, and serving as a regional director for UK International Soccer.
Leon has experience in the men's and women's College game, having served as an assistant coach at Quinnipiac University and goalkeeper coach New Haven's lady chargers. Leon also has experience at the High School level, having served as an assistant coach at Joel Barlow and goalkeeper coach at Wilton HS.
Leon played in the UK with Leyton Orient FC of the English Football League and in Malaysia with Public Bank FC. He has an Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma from the NSCAA and a UEFA B License.
Leon's mission is to instill a passion for the game to the many young players in the area. His ADVENTURE SOCCER curriculum provides a great start to our most inexperienced players, while his enthusiasm and enjoyable environment created for our U7 & U8 age groups ensure we continually have young technically sound players that love the game.
Leon believes that the game of soccer is an excellent vehicle for teaching life lessons and good sporting behavior.
