Jackson R wins IFCPF World Cup with Team USA

INTER Player Enjoys IFCPF CUp in Spain

Early June: Over the first week of June '22, the annual International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football held their international club World Cup in Barcelona, Spain — a tournament now graced by the presence of US teams.

Inter CT FC 2007 player Jackson Ruscitti, a staple of the INTER Soccer community along with his older brother, Owen, received the call-up to join CP Soccer US in this highly-competitive competition — one which saw Team USA come out as Champions!!

The Importance of CP Soccer & Opportunities

For years, the largest established soccer nations have provided teams, leagues, and clear pathways for players with various disabilities & limitations to stay involved in the game of soccer — both for the love of the game, and its competitive aspects. This area of soccer is still far in the formative stages in the US.

Each year, CP Soccer both raises teams & recruits players from across the country to be a part of competitive opportunities — like the IFCPF Cup. Jackson was one of a few players who were contacted from across the country to be a part of this amazing opportunity.

As a pathway program, CP Soccer's representative US team dedicates itself as committed to providing soccer opportunities for players “affected by cerebral palsy, stroke or traumatic brain injury.”

One of the ultimate goals is providing a direct link for these players to US Paralympic Soccer — the Para-7-a-side Team — the highest level of competitive play nationally for players with brain injuries/disabilities.

Team USA & Jackson — Champions!

Over the course of the week, Team USA, represented by CP Soccer US, produced a spectacular run the the finals — including 4 straight wins with 0 goals conceded. This included dominant wins against host-nation Spain, England, & Netherlands in the finals.

They also played to a well-needed draw with Ireland — a game in which Jackson played in entirety to help secure vital points!

Embodying the 'Inter-way'

As a key member of our 2007 boys, we have only the highest praises for Jackson and the strides he has made on the international stage for talented, passionate players affected by the likes of cerebral palsy & other traumatic brain injuries.

His accomplishments, alongside both CP Soccer & INTER, are a testament to our overlapping missions in providing the necessary support & inclusive instruction to ensure all soccer players receive the training necessary to find elite opportunity — on any stage.

These foundational beliefs spawn from the very badge Jackson dons during his INTER season. Alluding to what we simply call "the squares," the intentional pattern of our badge is representative of equality to opportunity & access, positivity, advancement, strength, and connectedness for all. They are "stepping stones to success" in long-term commitment to development.

We want to again congratulate Jackson for emulating such success & values that we strive to honor as a club. We wish him continued success on & off the field, and know he'll continue to earn amazing soccer opportunities — what a way to kick-off summer!
