In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Inter CT players are once again set to represent our USL U20 Academy at the highly anticipated USL National Championships in Tampa. This momentous achievement marks the third consecutive year that Inter CT has qualified for the prestigious tournament after topping the qualifying group in the north east region against top clubs such as Hartford Athletic, Western Mass Pioneers and Boston Bolts.

Trevor Pegg & Max Weiss will represent Inter CT in the squad which is made up of talented high school and college players from throughout Connecticut. Kristian Larsen, Ian Ueker, David Unruh, Cooper Fitzgerald from Inter CT also contributed to qualifying.

This year is the third year of the collaboration between AC CT and Inter CT saw a rebuilding process with new younger players being brought in to take advantage of this higher level platform.

Both Inter CT and AC Connecticut have been praised throughout the USL Community as a model of how two rival clubs can work together to provide a high level platform for players. The relationship has provided more and more opportunities each year. This past March saw younger Inter CT players represent in Pre-Academy play the 2010, 2008 and 2006 level at the USL Academy Cup. 

This fall also saw the creation of full time USL Pre-Academy teams as INTER CT FC JOINS ENCL PATHWAY WITH ECNL REGIONAL LEAGUE PLAY. This past weekend saw the first games at this level for High school aged players, which saw favorable results across the board proving, like our 2011’s and 2010’s have this fall, that we can compete at the next level.

As our U20 team prepares to compete against the best of the best, their remarkable run demonstrates the heights that can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and a collective determination to represent their club and community with the utmost pride.
