The 2012 boys went into their State Cup final on a high after winning at Needham against one of the CT Rush teams. That team made up half of their select team that we played in the State Cup final, allowing us to know that the challenge was going to be far more difficult. 

The first half, the game was very even for 20 minutes, with both teams creating minor chances, but nothing really clear cut. Going into the last 10 minutes of the half, we started to put more pressure onto the opposition, causing some mistakes, and getting some decent chances, which included us hitting the bar. 

The start of the second half was more in their favor. They pressed us in and kept a lot of possession, causing Jack to make a couple of great saves in goal. They missed a massive chance halfway through the half and at that point, we managed to settle back down and defend magnificently again, evening the game back up. At full time, we were 0-0 and Extra time proceeded.

In Extra time, again, it was very even, with both sides getting small chances but nothing too clear cut. Going into the second half, we got a corner, which Archie took and placed on the top of the 6 yard box and it hit a defender and went in, giving us the lead. Straight from kick off, they got a good chance that they flashed just wide, but then in their desperation to find an equalizer, allowed us a couple of good chances to score that we couldn’t convert. In the end, some more great defending at the end of extra time allowed us to win the game 1-0, and bring the State Cup home for Inter!
