It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Avery Lafferty after her extremely brave and inspiring battle with Diffuse Midline Glioma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Avery, a very talented athlete, is a member of our soccer community, who was a great teammate, a joy to be around and who always played sports with passion, intensity and a big smile on her face.

For anyone who saw Avery play soccer for the first time, it was usually greeted with a, "Wow, who is that small blonde kid running rings around everyone". Avery really was a special talent on the soccer field and her infectious character will be missed.

Avery was supported daily through her brave battle by her amazing parents, Lisa and Paul and big sister, Alexis (also a soccer player), who make up what is truly an amazing and inspiring family.  To continue her legacy and help other children who face a cancer diagnosis they have founded a charity in Avery’s honor.

The Mission: To honor the legacy of Avery Marie Lafferty, an exceptionally brave cancer rebel, and patients like her. To strive to advance pediatric brain and other cancer research through funding, provide support and assistance to families battling pediatric cancer, and promote activities to raise awareness.

Avery has shown us all what a tough warrior she is through battling this illness as long as she did. As a community we want to remember and celebrate Avery's life the way she would have wanted us to.
