The Inter CT FC Litchfield teams made a spectacular return to the Chelsea Piers President’s Day Tournament, building on the momentum of their impressive 2010 team’s victory last year. This time, the spotlight shone on their 2014 girls' team and the 2011/12 girls' squads, who made a strong statement with their exceptional performances.

The 2014 girls’ team has been working tirelessly to prepare for their upcoming move to Connecticut’s Zone 1 Academy A division, the top premier bracket. Their showing at the tournament proved they were ready for the next challenge. The team showed resilience and determination, with standout moments of sportsmanship and grit. Despite facing a tough setback earlier in the tournament where they lost to a formidable opponent in group play, the girls displayed incredible mental toughness. In a thrilling final, they faced the same team again and came out victorious in a dramatic penalty shootout. It was a perfect example of how to bounce back from adversity and use earlier experiences to fuel future success.

“This tournament was a fantastic learning experience for the girls,” said Coach Dave. “They faced some of the best teams in the state, and that will only help them as they transition into the Zone 1 Academy A division. More importantly, it was an opportunity for them to grow as players and as a team. Watching them come together and rise to the occasion was incredibly rewarding.”

Meanwhile, the 2011/12 girls' team also made waves at Chelsea Piers. The group not only secured solid victories, but they also made great strides in team cohesion. They welcomed several new players to the fold and, through the intensity of the competition, forged stronger bonds both on and off the field. Additionally, the girls had the unique opportunity to integrate with their Inter Milford counterparts, who guest played alongside them for the weekend. The collaboration perfectly exemplifies how Inter CT FC can unite different communities and create lasting friendships.

“The 2011/12 group really embraced the chance to work with new players and players from other Inter teams,” said Dave. “They’ve formed some great connections with the Inter CT Union girls, and that’s what’s so special about soccer—it’s not just about the game, but about the relationships you build along the way.”

The tournament was a major milestone for all the Inter CT Litchfield teams involved, marking another chapter in the club’s development as one of the premier soccer organizations in Connecticut. As the teams celebrate their victories, they are already setting their sights on future challenges. For the 2014 girls, the Zone 1 Academy A division is just around the corner, and for the 2011/12 teams, this weekend served as the perfect foundation for the road ahead.

The excitement of the President’s Day Tournament was not just about the wins but also about the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the growth seen in every player. Inter CT FC Litchfield's commitment to fostering a love for the game, building strong teams, and preparing its athletes for success on and off the field continues to shine brightly.
