Inter CT FC partner with Shelton Youth Soccer Organization: Creates Inter CT FC Union

Inter CT FC and Shelton Youth Soccer Organization have agreed a partnership that will see Inter CT FC provide coaching, education, program management and pathways for recreational and travel players in the town of Shelton as well as providing an outstanding service and pathway for premier players in Shelton and the surrounding areas.

In an exciting collaboration, SYSO players will benefit from all the services, both on the field, off the field and online, that Inter CT FC has to offer. In addition, every player will be afforded the opportunity to participate in extra programming which will be made available to all players based in the Shelton community and surrounding areas.

Acknowledging the partnership between SYSO and Inter CT FC, Marty Walker of Inter CT FC said:

“This is an exciting time and opportunity for our club. We welcome very much the responsibility to provide our outstanding service to the players of SYSO and we are excited to expand our reach in this area.

Growing on our successes on and off the field with our friends at Milford United Soccer Club, this allows us to offer a similar pathway to the whole Shelton community.

Both Shelton and Milford have a proud history of producing excellent soccer players and both towns have excellent facilities. It is a privilege for us to be tasked with the soccer education for all players whether they be recently introduced to the game at a young age, or are aspiring to play at the collegiate level and beyond.

One thing that has really been a catalyst for our success has been the way in which we have developed the community feel in our club. We are honored to get the chance to do that again with Shelton having already built our culture in Norwalk and having shared that with Milford and Litchfield.”

Shelton Youth Soccer Organization Director of Coaching - Gus Harris:

“I’m really looking forward to our collaboration with Inter CT FC. With Inter CT providing the structure and staffing for our program I strongly believe that we will be able to offer excellent coaching and lay out development pathways for our players at all levels of Rec, travel and premier soccer (the latter will be under the Inter FC banner). This partnership will allow us to cater to the interests of all players currently at the club - whatever their ambitions are in soccer, whether that be playing for enjoyment, representing the town at travel level, or playing competitively at premier level and beyond, potentially all the way up to the professional level of the game. The opportunity for our players to play travel soccer in Shelton and premier soccer under the Inter FC banner simultaneously is something that I’m particularly excited about.

I know the Inter FC program and the people who run it (as I’m sure many of you do too) and I fully trust them to provide a great service which will build on what we already have at SYSO. I’m looking forward to being able to give you more information very soon.

This is a very exciting time for the club and the Shelton community in general and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

The aim of Inter CT FC Union is to provide a highly competitive player experience which offers regional and national levels of competition, full time coaching, excellent facilities, collaborative resources and an elite soccer education.

“The Union” will service Milford, Shelton and the surrounding areas by building talented pools of players and offering exciting opportunities for all.

The Inter CT FC Pathway provides regional soccer for boys and girls at the National League level. The USL Pathway to Pro via our USL Pre-Academy teams competing in the ECNL Regional League and USL Open Cup provides an even higher level of play.

Yours in soccer,

Leon & Marty

Inter CT FC are delighted to announce that, as part of our relationship with our friends at AC Connecticut, our boys will have the opportunity to participate in regional play in the ECNL Regional League  starting this fall in the 23/24 season. This opportunity is provided to our players who aspire to and are selected to compete at the next level. It also compliments our teams competing in the National League North Atlantic and New England Conferences, a unique situation afforded to us due to our geographical location.

This is an exciting development for the club. The ECNL Regional League will serve both Inter CT FC and AC Connecticut as a USL Pre Academy League. For our players who have had a taste of what the USL has to offer, this will be a welcome addition to the services that Inter CT FC already provides. By adding the ECNL Regional league to our schedules many more of our players will now have the opportunity to get that same valued experience.

The ECNL Regional League North Atlantic will cater to our U13 - U19 boys teams. At the top of this ladder will remain the USL U20 Academy League and the USL2 Mens team.

See our latest "Beyond the Badge" for a USL Academy Open Cup edition.

As before, players who qualify to compete at the USL Pre Academy in this ECNL Regional league will do so at no added tuition cost.

As we continue to build our platforms for all our teams, we want to ensure that the club is best placed to serve all your soccer needs.

We also have very exciting news on the horizon for our girls. As we increase our presence in Regional soccer for girls teams in 2023/2024 we will be offering more regional league and tournament play.

Stay tuned for the girls updates and more club wide information about all the new developments at Inter CT FC.

Marty and Leon

As Inter CT prepares for the third year of USL Academy Soccer we saw a new look side [as described in our recent story] travel to Albany for the first of our league games against Blackwatch.

Having romped the league last year, expectations were high, but cautious with a new very young & fresh squad.

Nerves were settled after an early lead was established, but 1-0 is how is stood for the remainder of the half.

Halfway through the second half, the lead was doubled and with 8 minutes left, Inter CT’s Kristian Larsen from our 2006 team was left unmarked on the far post and whipped in a great curled shot to the corner of the net.

Blackwatch did respond five minutes later, but Larsen was again on hand to dispel any fears of a comeback with an easy tap in at the far post after a great flowing passing movement from the Academy side.

The 4-1 victory is our third opening game victory in three years and for Larsen, who’s four minute brace becomes the first Inter CT player to score two goals on opening day.
