Inter Connecticut FC is excited to announce its partnership with SportPerformanceU, an elite training facility in Wilton. The SPU purpose is to provide a comprehensive athletic setting to help athletes reach their potential and promote athletics within the community.
For Inter CT staff to learn more about SPU and how they can help in the development of our players, they spent Tuesday afternoon at the facility getting up to speed on the SPU approach. Coaches were put through a few of the initial tests SPU uses to evaluate new athletes, shown some exercises used to correct different issues within the body, and the SPU staff explained how they design individualized plans for their athletes. It was clear this is a very professional organization that takes a comprehensive approach to development and will provide many benefits to our players going forward.
This partnership will help our players with injury prevention, improved athletic performance, and skill acquisition. Our staff received education in several areas in which they can begin to help all players, and we expect this to increase as our knowledge does. We will also be able to identify players that may need assistance beyond what we can offer.
Owner and Director of Operations, Leon Othen had this to say about the new relationship. "We are always looking for more ways that we can support our players to be the best that they can be. After speaking with Alex, the owner and athletic performance coach at SPU, it felt like a no brainer. Alex is extremely passionate about helping athletes at all levels unlock their potential, and he aligns perfectly with our values at the club. We are excited to see how this positively impacts our players going forward".
