For the first time in club history, all of Inter CT FC’s girls teams entered into the Connecticut State Cup have advanced to the State Cup Finals. This monumental achievement will see the 2013 Union Black, 2012 DPL, and 2011 DPL teams compete for the championship on Sunday, June 1st at FSA.
This moment marks a significant milestone in the rapid growth and development of the Inter CT FC Girls Program. Just last year, no girls’ teams made it beyond the early rounds of the tournament. Fast-forward to this spring, and the story has completely changed—thanks to the incredible commitment of our players, coaches, leadership, and awesome parents who have supported the girls on this journey.
A Testament to Growth and Community
The rise of the girls’ program is more than just about wins—it’s a testament to the pathway and community environment Inter CT FC has worked hard to cultivate.
The 2013 Union Black team comprises talented young players from Milford and Shelton, many of whom have come through the Inter CT ecosystem via town soccer partnershipsin those communities. Their journey is a shining example of the long-term development model that Inter CT believes in—nurturing local talent and giving them a platform to thrive at the next level.
Meanwhile, the 2012 and 2011 DPL teams have showcased the club’s regional strength. These squads comprise top-tier players drawn from all three Inter CT branches—Norwalk, Union, and Litchfield. After a strong debut season in the DPL, their run to the State Cup finals is a clear sign that these teams are not only competitive but ready to set the standard for elite girls’ soccer in Connecticut.
Leadership: Making a Lasting Impact
None of this success would be possible without the strategic direction and tireless work of key girls’ program leaders.
• Marc Davis, the new Girls Director of Coaching in Norwalk, has brought fresh energy and vision to the program.
• Stephen Bell, DOC at Inter CT Union, has played a key role in guiding the development of the players in Milford, Shelton and the surrounding areas.
• Sean Ribchester, who transitioned from the boys’ side of the club, has been instrumental in elevating the girls' technical and tactical performance across all age groups.
Their combined efforts have helped create a culture where development, opportunity, and belief drive success—success that is now being seen at the highest levels of youth competition in the state.
A New Standard for the Future
Finals are not just about chasing trophies—they’re a celebration of how far the girls’ program has come in just one year. They also provide a beacon for younger players and families throughout the Inter CT system, showing that there’s a clear, proven pathway from grassroots town soccer to elite-level competition.
We are incredibly proud of the 2013 Union Black, 2012 DPL, and 2011 DPL teams and wish them the very best of luck as they look to bring home the titles.
